
I'm not sure it qualifies, but on exactly the first anniversary of joining ThoughtWorks, I boarded a plane to the USA to work there for twelve months. After only visiting the US once before for a two week holiday.
When I joined ThoughtWorks I had a pretty open mind about where my career could take me. I've since coached GMs, gone to geeky conferences and accidentally become a mobile architect.

I've been working in computing for about a decade. Most of that time I've worked for small startups and R&D firms: expert systems, face tracking and really cool stuff I can't tell you about that would blow your mind. But, startups rarely launch. So now I work with large companies, directly with my customers and I launch working software regularly.
